It says the detention center processes approximately 2,800 inmates in and out of jail annually, maintains an average population of 235, and has 46 staff assigned to the Detention Center. The page also identifies on-site medical, a law library, video conferencing, preliminary hearings and some court appearances held on site, work crews, and a work release program for other nonviolent sentenced inmates.
Those numbers support the short-window release issue. A high-turnover county jail is not a static archive. The public feed confirms recent activity, while older or official records require the jail, court, or the next custody agency.
Municipal Arrests Released Here
The sheriff's jail page says municipal police departments in Fort Payne, Fyffe, Sylvania, Rainsville, Geraldine, Henagar, Collinsville, Crossville, Powell, Valley Head, and Hammondville send arrestees to the DeKalb County jail. That is important for release searches because a person arrested by a city police department may still appear in the county sheriff roster.
For a municipal ordinance or traffic matter, the jail release entry confirms the custody change. The final case outcome may be in municipal court or DeKalb County trial court records depending on the filing path.
